A Visit to Exploring Rwanda: Building Bridges with CENTI CITI Uganda

Rwanda, known for its lush green landscapes, vibrant culture, and remarkable progress in recent years, is a country that beckons curious travelers. Among the many reasons to visit Rwanda, establishing connections with local communities and leaders is essential. In this blog, we delve into the journey of CENTI CITI Uganda Leader, a missionary and Pastor, Adela Hirlemann Pohl, as she embarks on a mission to meet a fellow Pastor in Christ from the Union Baptist Church of Rwanda in June of 2018. Follow her and discover the beauty and warmth of this East African gem.

The Purpose

CENTI CITI Uganda and its Leader Pastor Adela, have a unique goal: to foster relationships that transcend borders. She believes that connecting with local leaders, especially through spiritual guides, can pave the way for meaningful collaborations and future establishment of CENTI CITI roots. Rwanda, with its rich history and resilient spirit, provides an ideal backdrop for CENTI CITI World Missions.

Meeting Pastor Fidele Shinga

The journey begins in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda where she meets Pastor Fidele Shinga, a dynamic leader who has been instrumental in community development and reconciliation efforts. Pastor Fidele’s church serves as a hub for the Gospel, Education, and Empowerment Programs. We were eager to learn from his experiences and explore ways to collaborate and take any essential actions.

The Conversation

Adela met Fidele in Kigali. Over a cup of Rwandan coffee, they discuss various topics including:

  1. Unity and Healing: Pastor Fidele shared stories of Rwanda’s painful past—the 1994 genocide that tore families apart. He emphasized the power of forgiveness and reconciliation. Pastor Adela was moved by his commitment to healing wounds and building bridges as the government empowers the people to reconcile with one another and focus to building their country.
  2. Community Development: The Pastor described initiatives undertaken in pushing the development of their country such as establishment of vocational training centers, women’s cooperatives, and youth mentorship programs. Pr. Adela envisioned how CENTI CITI Uganda could contribute to these efforts in line with what the Church/Organization do in Uganda.
  3. CENTI CITI’s Vision: Leader Adela Hirlemann explained her vision—to create a global network of changemakers who shall collaborate across borders in the future. Pastor Fidele nods in agreement, emphasizing the importance of shared values and mutual respect amongst Christians and non-Christians in communities we serve at large.

Future Prospects

As Pastor Adela Hirlemann bids farewell to Pastor Fidele Shinga, they exchange contact information. She knows that this encounter is just the beginning. CENTI CITI Uganda plans to stay connected, exchange ideas, and explore joint connections and possible projects, perhaps a youth exchange program or a community empowerment initiative on top of a gospel mission establishment? The possibilities are endless!

Conclusion

Our Leader left Rwanda with a heart full of hope. She has not only met a pastor but also found a partner in building a better world. Rwanda’s resilience, warmth, and commitment to progress inspired her. CENTI CITI’s journey continues, fueled by the belief that meaningful connections can transform lives through Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior, Amen!
